Regular Cleaning Wasn’t Working
After decades of use, the historic pewabic tile and grout in this Grosse Pointe, MI home had become very dirty. Although the homeowners were diligent with regular sweeping, mopping, and occasional scrubbing, the floors never really looked clean. Dirt, mold, grime, and other pollutants had become trapped in and under the grout, and cleaning was just driving the unwanted substances in further.
Our Solution: Deep Cleaning
First, we pretreated the tile with a neutral cleaning solution, thoroughly scrubbing the area to break down all the dirt, mold, grime, and other contaminants. Then deep cleaned the tile and grout using a hot water extraction process, which safely provides the highest level of cleaning possible by flushing out and removing pollutants from deep within the porous surface.
The homeowner was pleased with the outcome. We recommended our grout sealing service so that the like-new appearance of the floor would not be prematurely diminished by new dirt and bacteria and so that regular cleaning would be much more productive, but the homeowner opted for no sealer with more frequent professional cleanings.
